A Leisurely Holiday

Nothing left. By the time we got around to Memorial Day, I don't think any of us had anything left.

We began the day with the long trip from Fox Lake back to Matt's hometown. After a quick lunch at Molly's, we went over to Pat's house (Matt's mom) to spend some time with her.

Matt's brother, Brad and his new wife, Ana, expected to leave for home on Monday.

With a 15 hour drive ahead of them, they were talked into staying until Tuesday morning. That way they could get a little rest and avoid the holiday traffic.

In addition to the rehearsal dinner on Friday and wedding on Saturday, Brad went to the Indy 500 on Sunday with several in the wedding party and family.

A stranger took the shot and left his finger in the way. :)

The Indy 500 in and of itself is an all day affair. Rather exhausting.

Considering all that had gone on during the week and over the weekend, it's no wonder everyone was ready to crash.

When we arrived for our visit with Matt's mom, we found that she was happy to relax in the den with us and take in a movie. When we first arrived, she buzzed around offering us food and beverage and talked of all the goings on over the week and weekend that we missed.

After the movie, I found myself leaning against Matt and yes, I dozed off. That's when Matt called it a night. Oops! I guess I should have stayed sitting up!

While there we took in a nice meal of brats, chips and wedding cake for dessert.

Matt grilled up the brats for us, so it was nice to be spoiled a bit. :) He was good all weekend about taking care of my empty plate after meals and getting me a drink if I wanted one. I love it when he does little things to show me he cares and is thinking of me.

Brad and Ana were busily packing their belongings when we called it a night and headed back to Molly's. At that moment, I must admit, I was thrilled to know we would be traveling home by plane.

It just so happened that the actual holiday was the least eventful day of the weekend. None of us had anything left. Our energy was sapped, but it was nice to be in a place where we could relax. It's always nice to go home.
