Little Compromises

Since we've been married, I've made Matt a salad of some sort almost every night for supper. Recently though, eliminating the salad has been a sure-fire way of lowering our portion sizes. Tonight I had the main portion of the meal planned and at the last minute, right before the meal was ready, I decided to add something light and fresh.

I. Love. Tomatoes. Matt likes them, but I eat them in ways that Matt doesn't. Even though I asked him before (and remembered his answer: that he's not interested in sliced tomatoes by themselves), I dared to throw down some tomato slices as a side dish. With a little salt and pepper, that's right up my alley.

At the last, I had second thoughts. With some fresh avocado staring me in the face, I decided to choose the ripest one and serve it up with the tomatoes and a little balsamic vinaigrette.

When dinner was served and Matt took a bite, he gave it a great review. I love simple wins.
