Rain Check

Our friend Wendy was in town over Easter, so we were able to visit with her over breakfast before church Easter Sunday. The plan was to have her all to myself while Matt visited with a friend at another restaurant. That way I could really find out the details I've missed face-to-face. Girl talk.

Matt didn't seem to like that plan. Of all our friends, Wendy was the first person he mentioned missing when we moved to Maryland after the wedding. I should have considered that while making our weekend plans. At the time, I was so amused. We were in the car, I believe, talking and laughing. In the midst of it, there was something he said that made him think of Wendy, her reactions and humorous way. He promptly said, "Ahh, I miss Wendy!"

His resistance to us going separate ways for breakfast was almost tangible so I acquiesced. He never told me why, but my guess is that he didn't want to miss seeing Wendy. I must admit, during breakfast he asked as many questions and talked with her as much as I did.

It was great to catch up on some things we've missed, but I have to admit I've taken a rain check for the one-on-one visit. As you know ladies, there's just something about sitting face-to-face with a friend talking about life.

Next time, sweet friend. I'm looking forward to it already.
